A discussion of the Halo-17 review rating system
From HaloWiki
The Halo-17 review rating system isn't like other systems. While other systems tend to be biased towards the upper end of the scale, we are very much adamant that an average album should get a "5.0", and scores above "7.0" and below "3.0" should be used extremely sparingly.
Interally, the system sees the scores as being whole numbers. To get the actual review score, divide by ten. For instance, a review with a score of 58 corresponds to a 5.8 on the site.
As you can see, in the graph about, the majority of the scores are grouped around the 5.0 mark, and there are noticeably less scores around the extremes of the scale. A text-based breakdown of these scores is:
- 0 to 10: 12 (2.05%)
- 11 to 20: 19 (3.25%)
- 21 to 30: 29 (4.97%)
- 31 to 40: 37 (6.33%)
- 41 to 50: 69 (11.81%)
- 51 to 60: 169 (28.93%)
- 61 to 70: 108 (18.49%)
- 71 to 80: 93 (15.92%)
- 81 to 90: 38 (6.50%)
- 91 to 100: 10 (1.71%)
This has a little too high a bias towards the 51+ range for my liking, but it is tolerable.
